Question A wonderous mysterious tube...

Quick little backstory: Bought this monster of a jeep for $500 with 289,xxx miles on it and not a prayer on it lasting the 35 miles back to my house. It did, and about 1000 more miles still and I have slowly began bringing it back from the dead one oily leaking piece at a time. Everything seems to be going swimmingly... 'cept for this tube...

Anyone able to enlighten me as to where this probably-critical piece of vacuum(?) tubing belongs?

Okay, we need to know what year, motor, 4wd or 2wd please. It would also help if we knew if it was an auto or manual tranny.

Its a renix, 87-90, looks like 4.0, 4wd, dont now trans... Judging by the pressure bottle (left of pic), oil filter, and the three vacuum hoses for the CAD (center of pic, arranged in a triangle)

OP, that is a vent tube and is supposed to be like that.

Nailed it... 1989 4.0 automatic 4wd. Thanks for the quick responses, I was worried I pulled something or left something unhooked. Thanks!
