Question wondering if i should buy it...

so looking through the classifieds in the paper today and found a 1993 Cherokee sport, 4.0L, 2 door, 4 wd and said make an offer. i called him up and he said that he just put on a brand new stablizer bar, ceramic brake pads, and new rotors and it has 220,000 miles with some rust.

jw if anyone knows anything to look out for and weather to get it or not and what price its worth

probably gonna have to ask someone who lives close to where you do. around where i live, that jeep may go for one price, but if you drive down to atlanta, you can get it for half that....it all depends on what cars go for where you live. sorry i couldnt help you, but i do recommend looking to see how rusted the floorboards are (seems to be a problem on most jeeps)

just the typical things. engine noise, tranny shifts ,watch the temp to make sure it doesn't over heat. test drive see how the brakes the steering and the rest of the suspension feels. those are the things i look at when i buy something

Before buying mine I looked at a lot of those 200k mile Cherokees. Yeah, Cherokees are known for good engines, but 200k miles wears out everything else.

If it is rough and looks beat on I would be in the $800 range.

If it looks used, but there are maint records, I would go no higher than $1500.

Then be prepared for $600-$1200 in misc repairs this year to get it to the point where you want it.

Check out any severe rust on the shock towers and coil spring perches. If those are rotted out, that Cherokee is beat.
