wobbles and knocks
So all day today on my 97 xj-i spent putting a 2in BB on, bleed the brakes, replace rotors, new pads in front, and replaced everything in the back drums except the actual drum. The 2" is a spacer and shackle. To get the track bar off we had to plasma cut the tab holding the bolt on the other side because we broke the bolt head-so the bar dropped then we beat the bushing with a mini sledge til the bolt came out. We didnt replace the bushing, it is slightly chewed up. we found a different bolt 2 washers and nut. Here are the problems. It wobbles above 40MPH. And sounds like someones knocking on the bottom of the floor board under the shifter when you brake too hard. if you brake softly, like REALLY softly, you dont here it, but if you stop sign is 100 ft away and youre goin 50 it bangs so loud. What do you guys think they are? Please help...

further into research im discovering its probably track bar issues...
if i wanted to relocate (cuz id rather not spend money) what direction should i go in, and how many inches.
or if more recommended, where is the best place for an adjustable track bar
OR TC drop kit?

Did you cut the bolt off the track bar BRACKET or the track bar AXLE bracket? For starters you do NOT need to relocate ur track bar with a 2" lift!!! I ran 3.5" of lift without moving mine and never had any problems...
Did you tighten the shackles with the jeep on the ground or jacked up??
You have to tighten suspension bolts with the vehichle on the GROUND.ALWAYS. If you messed with the frame end of the track bar you might be in for a headache... Go thru everything you modified and check that ALL bolts are tight.

If you are getting a noise consistantwith wheel rotation, maybe you have a rotor with a poor machined surface causing the pad to "walk" when the brakes are applied. This sometimes happens with substandard parts.

well i fixed the wobbles with a new bushing in the track bar, but there is a popping sound when i turn (not every time, just often) and thumping when i brake hard...could i have screwed something up when i did the shoes and springs?

Mine would do the popping noise only when i turned left, turned out to be the bolts on the steering box, they were corroded/rusted at the spacer behind the box, new bolts and all is well.
Maybe the drums need to be machined.......
