Default wiring problem

Today I hoped into my cherokee and it didn't start. I had no power. Turn key nothing. So I jumped it and my running lights we're on but then I let off the break and the lights shut off. Ths horn won't stop blaring. And the battery goes dead in about an hour and won't start back up

I just Googled "World of hurt" and your thread was the first hit.

Have you been having battery problems before this? How old is your battery?

How has your voltmeter been reading all along? 13-14 volts after start, then drop to just above 12 volts? Any voltage spikes?

Have you had a water in your passenger footwell? If so, the Junction Block may have had some short circuits.

Have you inspected all the wiring, connectors, and ground points in the engine bay, including the Power Distribution Center? Loose connectors, loose ground connections, chafed wires.

Call you smell anything like there was an electrical fire?

How do you know the running lights shut off when you release the brake?

Do you had a CEL on?

On and on, ad nausium.

Do some basic troubleshooting and inspecting and see what you can figure out.

I saw another thread somewhere lately where the OP had similar problems, but I never followed it so I don't know what his fix was, if any. Like you, I'll look around and see if I can find it.

Hang in there.

I fixed the starting problem. It was the c4 fuse block connector. It was burned up. I replaced all that and now my light are the only thing left.
Has anyone had this problem with there lights. I think it's my light switch. I think it went bad I was reading other forums and some people said it was that I need some input. Thanks
