Default rear shock bolts

I already know theirs a problem with snapping them off, but mine are completely rounded off, I have no idea how to get them out, I have new bolts and nuts to put in it, I've tried a air hammer already, I don't have a torch and probably wouldn't use one that close to the gas tank, any ideas?

Cut off what's left if anything, then bust out a drill & a steel bit & drill them out. insert the bolt from the back & you'll be good to go.......

Can you get an angle grinder up there? If not, use a hack saw blade. Their small, they should't take too long but... will be a PITA. They usually snap off here in Buffalo, actually haven't had an XJ that they haden't snapped on......

Good Luck

X2 on what xj_maniac_newb said, grab onto them with vicegrips and start wigglin.... they'll snap right off

If their is a nub left & that's what you mean as "rounded" use the a 4" grinder and clean them up, then drill your holes..

I wouldnt even try drilling them out. Just snap them off/cut them, use the air chisel on the weld nut and whats left then fish new bolts through. Takes FAR less time then drilling and tapping. Believe me, i tried both.

X2, thought you had the nut off already. Nut seems to be in good shape, you should be able to get that with a socket.. remember BP Blaster helps a ton, soak those babies
