Default Wiring issue

I am having a couple wiring issues on my new to my daughter 1997 XJ sport 4.0. I have checked and cleaned all grounds and fuses. MY rear wiper and third break light doesn't work. The license plate light does work. My reverse lights don't work and was advised that it is probably a NSS. The oil pressure gauge is not working but there was broken wires. I replaced the sensor and wiring pigtail but still not working. The previous owner had a different sensor and pigtail that was not the right one. He also had only one wire connected. Does anyone have a picture where the sensor is supposed to be wired so I can connect appropriately. Any help would be great.

Look for broken wires in the wiring between the body and the hatch. Search youtube for a writeup from bleepinjeep on refurbishing the NSS.

Do you know if your rear demist or hatch electric lock works? It sounds like the connector for your rear hatch wiring is possibly disconnected or you have multiple breaks in the harness where it bends between the body and hatch.

With your reverse lights, start with the simple and check Fuse 11 - 20A in the interior fuse board. Next check the bulbs themselves and the sockets for any corrosion.

Oil pressure on a 97+ I don't know much about so can't help yo out there.

Let us know how you get on.

lawsoncl, thanks for the info. I plan on getting a multimeter and learn how to use it. Hopefully that will make things a little easier. bleepinjeep has great information. I have used him before for assistance.
