Wire beside sun visor

I have a 98 xj was wondering if anyone knew what this wire is for? Its on the driver's side

I'd guess it's a microphone connected to the radio, for the other caller to hear you when their voice comes through the stereo.

That almost looks like the factory Chrysler U Connect Bluetooth system. Do you have a button panel anywhere in the Jeep that has a picture of what looks like a person speaking, as well as a phone receiver? If you press either of the buttons on the panel and it responds with a voice, then you have Bluetooth functionality.
