My intermittent wiper control module keeps cooking itself. I pull it apart, solder a jumper into the burnt section of the board and it works for a while then just burns through another spot (4 times now!). Does anyone know if these under-gauged conductors were endemic to '89-ish XJs or does the problem exist in other years as well. Also, is this a problem with overloading the circuit because of a bad wiper motor or are the control boxes just crap?

I guess if I can't find a reliable replacement system I'll just have to spend a few hours jumpering every single contact to bypass ALL of the laminated contact paths
