Hi, I am working on a 1990 cherokee limited ,4.0 ,auto with it seems like all the options including wood grain..nice truck .., I am having a problem turning off the wipers once they are no longer needed, the only way to shut them off is to stop truck put in park and turn ign off..? It has a tilt col. with the lever on the left built into the turn signal arm.. they are intermittent wipers and I am pretty sure the motor is fine as they turn on no problem when needed. ?? I tried moving the steering col. around and working the lever still nothing. Anybody else run across this problem? Everything else seems to be working fine.. Thanks

You have a short somewhere. I'm guessing it has something to do with the multi function switch.
You need to start with the wiring diagram of that circuit and see what else is on the circuit.
Things like the headlight sentinel timer have a tendancy to cause issues like that but I doubt those are on the same circuit.
I'd put $2 on the switch.

Ok Thanks so we are talking about the muti function switch or lever that would operate the wiper motor and turn signals correct?? I am guessing I have to pull the steering wheel to repair or replace the switch?? Thanks in advance ??

Well finally was able to get to checking the truck today, I removed the delay box exactly where you said it would be and the wipers now shut off with the switch..thank you.. my new problem is that they only seem to have one speed slow?? if you turn the lever to high they still move at the same speed?? The delay box is removed and the ends are plugged together., does this seem like a motor or the lever itself ?? Thanks again at least you do not have to shut off truck to shut off wipers but they are moving way to slow..
