Default Windshield Wipers

My windshield wipers stopped working.

I heard a click and the stock radio went out then came back and then the wipers wouldn't work. Nor the washer fluid. Everything else on the dash seems to be working.

A day later, they work but only on one speed. No intermittent, no fast, and the washer fluid works again too.

When you turn the wiper off mid stroke, they stop in place instead of returning to the lowered position.

Also, the lighting to the radio comes and goes, but the radio and cd player and all buttons still work. This has happened before the wiper issue.

Is it a short? A ground? It can't be a fuse can it? It doesn't sound like it's the motor...

Suggestions?

When I search for 'windshield wiper multifunction switch' I get results for a turn signal multifunction switch, not a wiper multifunction switch.

Loose nut? I think there is something like a tie rod that connects the wipers to some sort of pivot. If that makes any sense. Gonna have to take the cowl off.

You need to see a doctor about that.

More likely a "Specialist" in that field

Sounds like a new Multi-Function Switch may be what is needed I have replaced mine.

potato potatoe?

The turn signal is on the left of the steering column, the wipers are on the right.

So, NO, it does not seem like the same. But please, correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe with a little more detail than a one liner.

How is the turn signal multifunction switch the same as the windshield wiper multifunction switch? Or maybe the question is; how the turn signal multifunction switch also controls the windshield wipers?

Is there a 'how to' anywhere on this board for replacing the multifunction switch?

The turn signal switch and the wiper switch are different. The process for install is the same though.

front wipers and washers, bright lights and signal. 1996 "old school" . I can stop mine "mid-wipe" if I turn stop the wiper in-between settings, I do it all the time when I go through a wash. Checked your fuses?

Complete Cherokee is a great site. I found the wiper switch I need there.

Do you know where the ground wire is?

I wonder how I would isolate a short in the wipers.
