Default Windshield washer pumps wont work...

So I am trying to get this salvage 01 XJ back on the road and I am getting nothing out of the washer fluid pumps, front and rear. No noise at all when they are triggered, either.

Where would you start?

This XJ...

They are located inside the fluid bottle inside the ds fender. If you remove the inner fender well on the ds you will see the bottle and the 2 washer pumps. Things can get pretty crusty down there so it could be the connectors or more than likely the pumps are dead. I replaced one a couple of years ago. Now the rear does not work. Should have done them both. I believe they just pop in the bottle using an o-ring for a pressure fit.

Yes, that's it, just did mine last week. A bit of a PITA due to lack of space in there. When installing new rubber seals try not to push them into the tank, they're not much fun to fish out! Rockauto carries the pumps for about $10 each, best to do both. Some sources list a different part number for front and rear pumps, but they are the same aside from the electrical connector. (The front pump comes with an adapter harness that's not needed for the rear.)

I used dielectric grease on the connectors and sprayed the outside of the pumps with anti-rust goop to hopefully keep them from turning into lumps of rust too soon.

The front windshield washer pump is protected by CB 30 in the JB and the rear window washer pump is protected by fuse F22 in the JB. It would be unusual for the CB and fuse to pop simultaneously.

If the front wipers work the CB hasn't popped and if the rear wiper works the fuse hasn't popped.

Both pumps have a common ground (G106) located on the left inner fender, by the PCM. There are two screws that attach the grounds (many) to the inner fender. First check security of the screws then remove the screws and polish the wire ring terminals, then reattach them securely. Try the pumps. If both still don't work then you'll need to access the pumps and examine them and/or replace them.

My Photobucket is down or I would post pics.

My passenger side washer fluid nozzle on my hood is very weak. The driver side squirts out just fine. Anyone have an idea as to why my passenger side nozzle isn't squirting like it should? Thanks

The line may be partially clogged or possibly kinked somewhere along the way. Check the nozzle, too.

Check the connectors to make sure they are actually connected. Ran into that once on a friends Mustang. Wouldnt start, no fuel pump. After looking things over i found the fuel pump was disconnected. He forgot to hook it back up after replacing the old one.
