Default Winch Anti-Theft.

im sure this has been disscussed before on this forum as this is a popular question. what are some idea's for keepin yer winch from getting stolen. without welding period. or buying $30 lock boxes lol

On mine, when I built the bumper there are two bolts that cannot be accessed without removing the bumper.

I don't have a winch, but the bumper is built for a warn M9500....you can't pull the winch without removing the bumper.

green locktite and top-lock nuts would keep most people from getting it. you could also put a spot weld from the nut to the bolt to keep it secure. few seconds with a cut-off wheel and you could get the nut off.

Most marine places sell outboard motor lock nuts. They are special nuts that use a key kinda like a wheel lock for rims, but the difference is they have a shield around the nut that will not allow the nut to spin if you put channel locks or pliers on it. they sell for around $30 bucks. That should do it.

You can also use a hammer and a chisel to fubar the threads sticking out past the nut.

or you could put a motion detector under the bumper and when anybody goes under there with out turnning the alarm off....POW!!!!!!15" spikes to the chest!....lol

You can even use a wheel lock if you can get the right size and thread pattern. That way you don't need to stress so much once you put that lock tite on and need to get the bolts off lol

I like the idea of not being able to remove the winch without removing the bumper.. that is deff a deterant.
