Hey guys so I have really 2 issues that I’m not sure related but seem to be. Since I got the xj about when shifting from drive to park the rpm’s will drop very low and sometimes the jeep will stall completely, this happened about 50% of the time. Within the last few days I would try to start it and it would catch then immediately die. The first time it happened it would not restart at all. I left it over night and it started the next morning. But it now won’t start unless I depress the gas pedal about 1/4 throttle. Even then it runs a bit rough until I have held it at a higher rpm for a few seconds about 1500 rpm. Then I seems to run ok.after searching I found the thread for ISc cleaning. I removed the throttle body and cleaned the port for the IAC as well as the main intake portion. Haven’t had time to do much else. I have then next 2 days off and would like to try to get this straightened out over the next few days. As I ride a motorcycle as my daily but it calls for rain this weekend lol thanks for any help you guys can provide!
edit: I had a thought last night that I may want to check the charge in my battery. Hooked up my battery charger and it said 12.2v at 52% I have the battery in the charger and am going to wait until it’s fully charged to see if the issue persists. Will update after. Thanks!
edit 2: will now start without gas pedal depressed however idle is very low and slowly creeps up. Video below.
edit 3: after getting it started and driving it for a few days it seems to have re-learned itself, I guess after the battery died it lost something lol.
running as normal at this time.

Well it’s back at it again… once it’s at operating Temp it’s fine. Starts up like nothings wrong. Guess I’m gonna start diaging again tomorrow or Saturday, which ever day isn’t raining. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Might be worth double checking your coolant temp reading, and fuel trims with an OBD reader. You've got a gauge at least so it seems less likely that your coolant temp sensor is feeding you BS but that's bitten me before on my 98 without a coolant temp gauge. The sensor would be super noisy and feeding the ECM a bogus -20ish reading, causing it to try to start pig rich and would only actually fire if I gave it some throttle. Fuel trims would at least tell you if something is walking out to the point of an abnormal AFR. The trims could have reset after the battery disconnect, eliminating the problem, only to come back as they learn in.
