I have a 1998 xj and someone on craigslist is selling a older style xj bumper with a swing out spare tire carrier on it. I could really use a swing out tire carrier but I am not sure if it will fit on my jeep without any major modifications needed. Any knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated.

It will bolt right on but u will need to get creative if u want to use the factory end caps. If it were me I would get rid of the lower rear spots on the wheel wells and just not use the end caps. There are many writeups on how to do this under fender trimming I'm sure. Not only could u run the bumper but then u will not get hung up on that spot off road. But most importantly that spot is a huge trubble spot for rust and its best not there at all.

just be careful cause that swing out will only hold up to a 31
