Default Will a bad fan clutch squeel like hell?

97 2.5l cherokee with new PS pump, water pump, idler pulleys, and fan clutch is less than a year old. I posted yesterday about the vibration damper but got a reply that it wouldn't squeel, just increasingly vibrate worse. I'm sure the squeel is not coming from the AC compressor and the only thing not brand new is the fan clutch. Will this squeel like hell at a higher rpm (about 3k) if its bad? Or, as frightening as it is, could it be coming from the front end of the crank?

check your belt tension. undertensioned belt accounts for squeeling 99% of the time in my jeep

With everything you replaced more than likely bad belt tension. Find some belt dressing or a bar of soap and apply some to the belt. Sometimes they become glazed, I guess would be the term, and slip on the pulleys causing them to squeal at higher rpms.

Default Thanks Y'all...I was half moron on that one!

Yup, glazed belt and worn backing washer on tensioner. Pulley was rubbing a bit but was masked by the god aweful belt squeel. After all I've done to my Jeep...you would think that I would have learned that after spending a couple hundred on new parts...what's an extra 20 on a new serpentine belt? DUH...I feel like a moron.

Put the old one in your trail box as an emergency backup. ( If you bust the new one a spare, even one that squeals, is good to have. )
