Will a 98 XJ gauge cluster work in a 96 XJ?
I ran a search here and googled, but didn't get a bottom-line up front answer. Some sites allude to it, but no one flat out says NO. Thanks.

No! 
You will need one from a '91-'96. The '97+ are a different style altogether, and '90- have a mechanical speedo. The '91-'96 have an electronic speedo.

Probably not worth the work but if you're set on it it would take custom mounting. Not sure on the electrical connectors will work, or if they could be sliced in.
