Have a buddy scrapping an 87 and I wanted the shafts/hubs for trail spares . Is it dumb to think they might work. Or had the d30 remained unchanged ? Thanks

I'm not sure if the hubs will, something inside me says no, but the shafts will not. The passenger side has the stupid vacuum disco and there are smaller U-joints. If the guy's replaced them with new ones in the past it'd be fine... otherwise you'd only be able to use the driver's side shafts, passenger stub, and it'd be a downgrade in terms of strength.

Drivers will is axle vacuum operated if so passenger wont and abs will throw a light if you got abs . Still work as spares in emergency breakdown .
not all older 30s were a disconect axle. in my 97 i have anon disco dana30 with the large joint shafts....
the hubs are a definite no as long as i it is not a disconect the shafts will be fine.
