Didnt like the peeling clearcoat on my '92 XJ so I cut out the rust, welded in new sheetmetal and added heavy duty rockers / sliders. Doing the $50 paint job and its turning out GREAT!

Some rust repair in progress...
As of tonight. 6th coat of OSHA Safety Yellow by Valspar. Rocks!!! Roll on EXTREMELY thin coat. Allow to dry. Wetsand to a very smooth finish with some 600 grit.. Paper towel to dry and add another coat. The shine is already AMAZING and its still a LONG way from done. All of the yellow "drips" are from the last wetsanding. Gonna spray the door sills and such when done with the outside.
Here are my weapons.. Paint thinner, 4 inch high density rollers and heavy-duty rust blocking enamel. Some 400, 600, 800, 1500 grit sandpaper and we are off and running. Only 10 more coats to go! Shooting for 15 total or so for good coverage.
