ok so when i make a turn my jeep makes a squeegeeing noise and sort of hops. i have been told that this a a problem with my u-joints but i just want to make sure before i go and buy them.

 

does it do it on just pavment or dirt also? sounds like its in 4 wheel dr to me. What Tcase do you have? part time or full time?...Tj

 

i have pt, and 4wd is disengaged and it is in 2wd so what could it be?

 

double check the ujoints(driveshaft and axle shaft). those can cause noise them turning, but i dont know about hopping,... I had some pretty trashed u-joints before but they never caused a the jeep to hop like it was in 4wd,..

make sure the jeep is out of 4wd,...?

 

Just a wild guess but try going off road and make a full turn in 2 wheel and then 4 wheel and see if there is any difference, if not the linkage may be locked in 4wheel. Having abad u joint wouold make it click, thump or squeek but not hop. One other thing is you may have a locker in the front rear?...Tj

 

haha no its stock lol. so how do i go about checking my u joints?

 

do you have a limited slip in the rear axle?

to check the u-joints, grab them with your hand amd wiggle back and forth and up and down, if there is any movement in the joint, replace it.
