my u joint snapped and now my 96 xj wont start
so i was wheelin with a friend of mine, and i gave it a little more gas than i should have.. and who ever installed my hd u joints did it wrong, it tweaked the rear end and snapped the u joint.. SO i get it home, get another drive shaft.. put it in, and now my truck wont start.. its not getting spark, all my plug wires are good, i checked all fuses, and my coil is not getting 12 volts.. is there anything that my drive shaft coming disconnected could have done to stop my jeep from starting?

that would be my first guess. the fuel pump or fuel lines. get under it, and see if you can find any dents caused by the driveshaft, and make sure that you didn't unplug or brake anything while installing a new driveshaft. also keep in mind that it could be a totally unrelated issue.
this is a trick that my mechanic did on my 5.9 back in 2001. my truck wouldn't start, so he unhooked the battery, took out the spark plugs and turned the crank a couple of turns and put the plugs and battery back together. sure enough after a couple of cranks it started. i can't tell you what the reason was for that, but it worked.

Ok check to see if you have spark.. no spark 90% of the time is your cps.. totally unrelated to a driveshaft letting lose. NOW that being said.. If is an automatic... it could be the NSS. they can get finicky with age. If it doesnt even try turning over. i would look into that. Basically remember you need 3 things to get your engine to run FUEl SPARK and compression

u joint snapped. replaced it. wont start
so a few weeks ago my u joint snapped and destroyed my drive shaft, i got a new drive shaft and put it in with a new yoke, u joint straps, i replaced everything, and now my truck will not start, its not getting spark and my fuel pump is pumping, i thought inertia switch but the only thing i found similiar to that had no reset button, so i have no idea what to do to get this thing to start. has anyone else ever had this problem? anyone have any suggestions?

Driveshaft may have taken out wires, pinched fuel line, downstream o2?

Check your crank position sensor, If you have juice going to the distributor but not coming out of it the cps is the culprit
Hope that helps ya,
