Default Why won't my jeep start?

i have a 96 xj with the 4.0 h.o. It starts when i haven't tried for a few hours but it won't start back. could it be the cps?

If it starts with the engine COLD, but won't start with a hot engine, then the crankshaft position sensor is suspect. It can suffer from thermal (heat related) failure. If you replace it, buy a Mopar crank sensor directly from Jeep. Aftermarket crank sensors are "hit and miss" with a lot of miss.

Another possibility (although less likely) is the ignition coil.
