Why does my A/C Clutch come in and out when A/C is not on ??
I noticed yesterday morning while warming up the Jeep in the garage that the A/C Clutch comes in about every ten seconds and stays in for only a couple seconds then goes back off. Over and Over,, even though the AC is not on. Any Ideas??
For now I just unplugged the AC Clutch wire...

I knew it was the A/C clicking on me. My rig does the same thing in the morning. Someone told me that it was a faulty spark plug wire arching to the block. Nice to know, bout the A/C. Thanks.

mine does the samething, the origional owner of my xj had it "unplugged" and something taken out. the second owner wanted the ac put back togather but they were quoted $650 to put it back and fix the reported problem. i got it, and it cost $30 to get it put back. but long story short i dont know why it does it, my mechanic doesnt know why, and nobody i know knows why
the only problem that i have is in traffic when i have stopped and dont have the brakes applied all of the way and it cycles off so there is more power and it jumps forward

I told you about the spark plug, but you were troubleshooting something, and the question was asked differnetly.
If you have the defroster on, the AC will cycle on and off - this has been standard on cars with AC since the mid 70's, if your mechanic does not understand why it happens, FIND A NEW/BETTER Mechanic.
