All the auto parts stores sell the one without the spring,
I installed it and it kinked without the engine even being on. Where can I get the original with the spring?
Can't use the old spring because it's rusted.

The only function of the spring is to allow the factory to pull a vacuum on the cooling system for filling. After that, it is obsolete and will not be found in stores.
If the hose is kinked, that it is in the wrong position or wrong hose. Some brands are more stiff than others.

did you cut the hose to the proper length when you installed it ? if its too long then it will kink.

if you are that worried about it then american muscle sells just the spring i believe.

Is 1.5 the correct width? Pretty sure it is. I have a spring in all my lower hoses and always will.

The water pump on the 4.0 is a pressure pump, not a vacuum pump. If the lower hose is collapsing than there is a problem, however the problem is not with the hose or lack of spring.

This is very true and the spring is not needed.

Oh, these poor people who think they need a spring to keep their hoses stiff, when it's really a circulation problem. I think they sell those springs in the machines in truck stop bathrooms.

Got my upper and lower hose at NAPA - no springs, no kinks, no collapsing and a perfect fit.
