Default who has high oil pressure

After fixing my vacuum leak I now have high oil pressure reading. I know I need to change back to 10w 30. I have been running 10w 40 but it was fine until I found my vacuum leak. Now I run 60psi cold idle and 80psi while driving. It lowers a little after the engine warms up to 40psi at idle and around 60 to 70 psi driving. I know most would kill for higher oil pressure but it drives me crazy that it just changed like this. Anyone else experience this.

I've got 200 miles on my rebuilt motor and it is showing 60 psi on the gage.

if my gauge is correct, i've got high oil pressure too. starting it up when cold it goes straight to 80 and stays there regardless of rpms until warmed up.

mine is about 50 psi. It will climb up almost to 60 with the RPM's but most of the time it sits around 50. do you have the stock gauge?

yea mine is stock. I would like to change to a better gauge but I am not sure how I would do that. I really haven't noticed any performance change so I am hoping it is in the gauge or sender. I need to change my oil but I have heard that changing from a synthetic back to conventional is not good. Although I was just using semi synthetic blend.

I see 80psi when cold. Goes down to 60psi once it warms up a bit.

I didnt think anything was wrong with that?

.........just another oil myth perpetuated on the Internet. Changing back to conventional oil poses zero, zip, nada problems.

I wouldnt bother to stop using synthetic. My oil pressure is always around that anyways, and my engine has 80K on it.

If it never fluctuates like that your gauge is prolly broken.

I drove 30 mile today and it did drop to about 65 or 70 after it warmed up. But today when I was driving home it never droped below 80 wile driving but it would fall to 60 at idle. I am scared to death of blowing my oil pump or blowing out some gaskets. I dont know, maybe its fine and I just need a new sending unit.

Before I rebuilt my motor sometimes it would peg itself, I was just happy that I had oil pressure. With the new motor I put in a new sending unit now it moves between 50 & 60 usually steady at 60, if it worries you change out the sending unit they are pretty cheap.
