Default White smoke from transfer case

Okay so the last few days iv been having starter problems, i will try to turn over the jeep and i just hear a click nothing else, i keep trying and itl turn over eventually. Not sure if that has a part in it but i tightened up some bolts and it works better.

So im driving on the belt way doing 60-70 and at the same car i hear a horrible noise, and white smoke coming out from under my hood allot of it for going as fast. Thinking its the tires or belt. Praying its not my 31" AT2 tires. To find out they are all right its worse its coming from my transfer case... Its leaking small bits of oil. I haven't had anytime to inspect it because cars and trucks are whizzing by 3ft away...

Any thoughts of what happened, and how much to fix?

Oh i was stuck 3ft of muddy water not long ago did 2 oil changes first one was brown. Could this of affected it?

Looking at that pic.. you have an oil leak that is hitting the exhaust.

Locate it and repair.

if its and AUTO, check the trans cooler lines where they run above the exhaust. Specifically the one that goes to the rearmost part of the trans. I had a very bad "white smoke" incident after running thru some mud and when i checked, that line was resting on the exhaust pipe and had rubbed/melted through. The puddle i was leaving was right where yours is. just about directly under and a bit to pass side of where the trans bellhousing bolts to the engine. Either way, hope you get it figured out. also, is it possible when you were in the water you got a bunch of water in your transfer case and its leaking out of the breather?

thats very true. usually if the smoke really is white, its trans fluid. I was assuming it was. Mine was making a smokescreen behind me, like BAAAAAAAD

Looks like you lost a rear main seal. Or something maybe the oil filter adapter o-ring.

Last pic shows running back and down from filter. I'd suspect the filter seal, the sender, or adapter o-ring.

Maybe. Look at the block around the part that the filter screws on. Pay close attention to the oil psi sending unit and oil filter adapter.

70 is not bad but rather unusual for a 4.0 with miles on it...

Take a close look at the area where the filter is. Theres a sender that can leak, espescially if hit while changing the filter and it broke/cracked.

Did you do an oil change recently? Did the old filters seal come off with it? Did you maybe overtighten the new filter?

Look closely and you should be able to see where the wetness is originating. Remember, it'll run back and down while vehicle is under power.

Start it and look close if you have to.
