Default White Lithium Grease

I did a lube job the other day on my Cherokee using white lithium grease. Was this the wrong stuff to use? Should I get a tube of marine grease and do it over?

Yeah, if you were under the car pumping white lithium grease from a grease gun into grease fittings, you done did a baaaad thing.

Try it again with the proper grease. Mobil 1 is fine, or Valvoline, or just about any good grease of that type.

What did it say on the package that it was for? If it's an all-purpose grease I think you'll be fine. Some grease is better than no grease.

my only concern is white lithium grease tends to be very thin and slippery, and doesnt have a lot of "stay putted ness".....ive traditionally always used it for light duty applications like hinges.

i would just be concerned about it working its way out of the joints leaving you lube-less...

but i dont think the grease its self will cause any harm.

the only thing I've used white lithium grease on is a fresh engine build. as aforementioned, it doesn't like to stay put very long. good product for sure, but there are better choices for anything that uses a zerk fitting.

Every oil change i usually WLG the hinges. Ive always seen it in spray cans. They don't make a thinker grease version do they. I feel like the OP is talking about something different than all of us right now. How could he get WLG into zerk fittings without a grease gun.
