Default White, “Bagged” Material Under Carpet?

Pulled the carpet out of a 91’ XJ. Maybe this is sound deadening material?

Its not cocain, or a pillow, promise 🤣

Is it for sound or is it the stuff that produces a smell when wet so that leaks don't go unresolved and breed mold?

Too funny. An auto interior shop owner indicated that it may also be material that is strategically placed over the catalytic converter for heat and sound. I dunno. Certainly believe it is for sound.

What you need to do is find a short straw and then smell the white powder.

Smell it real hard... and report back to us what the odor is.

I mean... I did purchase the Jeep from a guy up near Chicago. One little snort could end up blowing my head off.

We'll know that you've tested the material when we see a long and rambling post with a timestamp around 3-4am.
