SO I bought one of those stupid leaky fuel pressure testers from amazon.. I mean .. I bought a fuel pressure tester and it had zero pressure. I tried 3 times, even with teflon tape..
so I am sending it back and bought the $30 one from harbor freight.. haven't used it yet..
in the meantime, I searched about injectors here and discovered motorman is about half an hour from me.. so I ordered 4 holes off ebay from him..
I ordered a fuel pressure regulator, and a fuel filter... and decided today I would have a gassy kinda day..
its been hours.. I got the bracket for the stuff off.. I only have 1 stuff that goes through it for real.. I'm not sure that is right, but we will deal with it later..
I got the 10mm washer nut off the rail on the side by the firewall.. went smoothly..
then this happened.. I cannot get it to move at all.. what do I do? I need to get the thing happy by end of day wednesday.. hubby is doing well and he is going to move on to his next level of care... I have to go sign papers likely Thursday... I am planning at this time to put it all back together and just do the fuel pressure regulator... feels safe and just like a maintenance thing.. clearly someone lied to me.. this thing seems to be 1/2 inch.. also... its wet cuz wd 40 seemed like a good idea..
ps.. eta.. the nut from the firewall side will not fit on that stud... so its already been drilled out and resized...

Mark each fuel injector's connector 1 - 4 before you disconnect them. Pull the clips on the connectors into a rag or something so they don't go flying on you, the clips don't need to come all the way off the connectors, just back far enough that they are no longer down in the slot of the connector. It would be a good idea to purchase spare O-rings for your fuel supply and return fitting before you take those apart as well.
As for your problem with the stuck nut. It looks like a straight shot. You might have better luck with a deep socket and a socket wrench. You'll be able to pick an angle that will allow more leverage, and you can get more "muscle" behind it.
If you have the fuel pressure tester, why wouldn't you complete the test before you disassemble?
well.. I labeled 2 of them.. extra o rings are probably a good idea.. apparently now I have time. I was considering getting an o ring assortment anyway
I tried the cordless dewalt drill... a couple different ratchets.. i'm considering his air ratchet.. my issue is its a fuel rail.. and if you look at all but pic 3.. you can see a mark on the rail above that nut and stud.. I am not sure if I did that trying.. I don't want to do worse... idk if I can find another rail...
i pulled the vac line off the regulator and its wet and smells like gas... I had already ordered the injectors.. I think it would be ok for me to do it after I get these buttoned up.. and quite frankly after the one from amazon leaked all over everything when I did try it, I was feeling slightly over it.. getting the 4 hole is just an upgrade and so why wait and do all that when I just want to do it. also.. since trying to use the faulty pressure tester I lost all pressure in the system. Since I focused on fixing my power steering leak (I hope) I figured why go through it all repressurizing the system when I could just swap out the parts, easily I thought lol
I made the mistake of looking under the back of jeep at the filter.. that got lots of wd 40 lol then I looked at the fuel pump.. clearly I have some sort of pressure... I was getting 20 mpg before that dreadful night.. however.. the hoses coming off the pump may or may not be wet.. I haven't even so much as turned the key in a couple days.. so maybe someone already hit it with some lubricant .. if that IS leaking, I'm sure the pressure will be affected.. at any rate.. that will give me an excuse to test it. and try out the new toy.
besides.. I tried to drive that stupid car 6 blocks to the hardware store to get a reducer because i am not sure I have the correct fuel pump.. with my remote res on that all the hoses are 5/8... after almost getting charged 120 for 3 ft of hose, they ended up selling me 3 ft of fuel hose 5/8.. it doesn't fit the 3/4 tube on the pump https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...180044&pt=7380
I was thinking this thing is kind of a crossover 90/91.. but between that pump and the fact from e to f I get 23 gallons.. depending on the resource that may or may not be normal.. The guy I bought her from said old farmer guy.. but showed up with wranglers... I wonder if he frankensteined it to sell it.. after tearing stuff out like the air conditioning.. maybe.. idk.
fun fun.. how many o rings is it supposed to have? there looked like the 2 like the new one comes with when I pulled it out.. I pulled out the second big one from the hole.. there is still a tiny one in the hole.. looks like the same as the one on the stem without pulling it out..

let me go pull that tiny o ring and button that up..
just to make sure.. I used a little gas on a q tip and remoistened it all up in there, pulled the little o ring.. use some engine assembly grease on the new o rings.. just a tiny kinda under my nail until both new o rings were shiny but not dripping..
you know... the bolt going into the bracket was so much easier to put in than it was to take off.. also, its a 9/32 socket...
I think it may be a barbie jeep.. everything seems smaller than what the 4.0 videos say.. except that nut on the fuel rail.

38 39 when its running.. I think I do have to let it run a bit .. I didn't see any leaks anywhere.. but the tester had a lot of air in the release tube which is why I think i need to let it run longer.. plus I think I have to burn off all the crap I spilled everywhere.. I didn't let it get to operating temp based on feeling the rad cap.. valve cover was warm.
tried to change the oil.. made a huge mess.. and idk what magic has to happen to get old oil filter out of the engine compartment... or the new one in.. I am not finding the route of travel .. i got it out of the block, spilled it all over my starter and the ground and gave up and put it back in..
Your fuel pressure should be the same as my RENIX, 31 normal, 39 with the vacuum line disconnected. It is designed to hold pressure (check valve in the fuel pump) after you turn the engine off, but maybe only like 20 lbs, so observe the test gage for a while. The only real consequence to pressure bleeding off after shutdown is long cranking to start.
no on thar nut.. between that and not getting that oil filter out of the engine bay I may make her a dr appt lol it will be a bit cheaper since I have the parts.. if they screw up the rail then they have to fix it lol
and if i have a leaky injector? that'll drop the pressure, too? I'm not sure my vac line on the reg is good.. i do know when I first turn the key it jumps to 50 real quick and goes back down .. i will have to do it again. i did run it a bit to check leaks and to bleed the steering as I changed a hose.. I probably need a new fuel pump, the hoses on the outside of it may or may not have been wet the other day but nothing leaked onto my cardboard today. I'm sure I need to swap out the filter there, too.
I still have to get under it and check the intake bolts ... I haven't done that yet. I may do the fuel pump ground per cruiser.. just to give her the best shot possible.
i may have another day.. he is sick somehow.. they are checking for uti and pneumonia..
It is recommended that the fuel filter is changed prior to installing new fuel injectors.
I understand that the vehicle may not be in running condition at the moment, but when it is: With engine running, at any temperature, do you have 31 PSI of fuel pressure with the vacuum hose plugged into the fuel regulator? Also with the engine running, do you get 39 PSI of fuel pressure when you disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator. Those are the two values you are looking for when you do the fuel pressure test - and I would like to know as well.
when I did it earlier it was 38 39 with it running.. I did not do anything with the vacuum hose to the pressure regulator.. I am unsure its tight enough as it is some actual hose with the tiny line pushed way up inside of it. I did go out there and attempt to fiddle with the vac hose.. I may have turned it around. I bought some elbow soft connectors but none in the package seems to fit the hose part, and the line part doesn't really seem long enough to just put it on there. it did seem to fit a bit tighter. I can look for a tiny clamp or try to get a zip tie around it to tighten it a bit IF I can pull it tight enough .. it goes on and off without effort on my part, unlike other connectors elsewhere.. that would explain that number. I will pull it and see if there is any change in a little while. I have a couple things to do first.

I happen to be fortunate enough to have a 23 gallon tank.. I have run it until the tank was on e... waiting to coast on fumes.. filled her right up the next day and got to 23 on the gas station pump.. at least twice to confirm.
how do I go about identifying it to make sure I get the correct pump when the time comes?

39 PSI running is correct pressure with the vacuum disconnected. Disconnecting the vacuum hose simulates an open throttle condition when there is little to no vacuum and the engine requires more fuel.
Ditch the elbows and tiny solid vacuum hoses and replace it with a single 1/4" vacuum line (black rubber). Once a good vacuum line is in place, and the engine running, do you see 31 PSI of fuel pressure?
