Where are the top dawgs in this forum??? We need your help!
Just beware of the Chinese sensors from the parts stores.
OEM are best. I've had better luck with used OEM sensors from the Junk Yard than the Chinese 'junk in a box'.
I've also had several 'bad out of the box' sensors. That's real frustrating.
Worse was bought some bad gas at a station in Moab last year at EJS. Probably so busy was sucking the tanks low and was sucking water off the bottom. Who would have thought. Fought it changing many parts, MAP, TPS sensors, O2 sensors and finally dumping many bottles of everything in the tank got to actually 'run on water' and was able to get it emptied and filled with fresh fuel. Fuel was so watered down that it didn't even smell like gas. I threatened to drink some to prove a point. New fuel and kit ran great again. Lost 2 days of wheeling. Never again will I buy at that station.

Wow. The day my mechanic was doing heavy testing on it I was there. We had solid spark through his tester connected...proper fuel pressure through his fuel gauge connected, and weird problems with the injector pulses///he had a light connected to the injector connection and it was definitely acting random. At first even at no throttle when he cranked it we were getting inconsistent pulses. So he had just, 10 min earlier installed a new cam pos sensor and distributor. He rips it apart, resets the engine to TDC, then reinstalls the distributor. After that it was cranking and the injector pulses started, but I could tell the battery was getting weak and said that could cause problems. So they threw in my battery which they had charged and when cranking the engine we had perfect injector pulse...it was sweet. And it also did exactly as you said,,,no injector pulse at all when he floored it. You really know your stuff man. Anyway we disconnected the test equipment and buttoned up some connectors and she fired right up!!! That was last Saturday. Sunday she would not start at my house. So I said f-it and ordered some sensors from rockauto. MAP Sensor, TPS, IAC, temp sending unit(I actuallly meant to get the cts but whatever)and ignition coil. Yesterday I was set to do my experiments as previously stated. She started and ran ok but was a bit wacky. Only stalled once, but I floored it and got her running again. Kept running after that. So yeah
In conclusion I think my original tps was quite defective. Started right up this morning, let her warm up, drove around the block...perfect shifting again! I will probably hold off on the ignition coil but I did want to do the IAC. I mean all the sensors I am replacing were really dam old so I am not too concerned. I am lightyears ahead of last weekend! I think I spent enough on this jeep to buy 3 more jeeps. But hey, knowledge is priceless and I keep learning...however painful some days can be!
