I got a jeep last week, and it was purchased with the intent of putting a little TLC and elbow grease into it.

I have started a list of to-do's, and here goes so far:
1. Tighten up steering box to take out death wobble..(hopefully)
2. New floor pans, and coat the floors with herculiner..
3. Im having some electrical problems that puzzle me...

The headlights come on, and run.....but sometimes when Im driving I see the lights go from dim to bright...or bright to dim.... It also happens when I hit the brakes. When I turn on the off-road lights while cruising around 30mph....mid range rpm, the engine loads up and starts to sputter. Im wondering if it could be a voltage regulator, or alternator, or battery. I checked the voltage on the battery with the motor not running...it shows 12v. I cranked it up and it showed 13-14.....so the alternator should be working plenty fine. What could cause the lights to dim like that or drag the motor down? ALSO, when I push the pedal down to speed up, it spits and sputters like it is smothering down... but it runs FINE all the way through the rpm range when in neutral..... any help is appreciated. thx.
