So yesterday I installed new gauge lights in my 96 sport and in the process the fuel gauge needle fell off. I have only had the vehicle for a little over a week so I am just wondering where my low fuel light is until I get a new gas gauge.

It should be a little yellow light right next to the E on the fuel gauge. I had a few needle fall off my gauges and to replace them was 50 dollars a piece so I just upgraded to all Auto meter gauges for the same price.

That basic dash doesn't have a low fuel light.. For the time being use a pen, pad and the trip odometer. To be on the safe side fill up when the trip odometer is in the 150 mile range. You'll have a greater range than that, but if your facing a long drive you'll be safe. If you have to take the dash out, now is a good time to do a cluster swap and put a cluster in with full gauges. For 97-01 it's just a direct plug and play swap. For your 96 I think you have to change the oil sending unit and the temp sending unit. There are great write ups on this site about the procedure. You should be able to find the cluster you need at a local junkyard or on ebay.
