Default Where to Get My New Wheels Mounted

Bought a set of used Soft 8s and I wanna get them mounted this weekend on the tires I have on my Jeep. Where would the cheapest place be to go? Walmart, Discount, Schwab?

On my last Xj I had a set of wheels mounted on my 32s and it cost me about $20 per tire/wheel. Is that the going price?

Damn really? Is that when they're putting the wheels on the vehicle? I heard someone say its $5 but only when you carry em in.

I basically wanna replace the stock wheels on my jeep with the soft 8s.

Having a tire mounted on the rim, then balancing the wheel, around here is about $20. I'm pretty sure Schwab was passing over my little jobs to make sure customers paying the big $ got good service first. I can understand. I guess they can understand if I never go back! (there is a local shop).

That's about right for a changeover with balancing on big 15's.

In my area, the little tire shops either don't have a computer balancer or it is old and inaccurate. Go to a reputable mid-sized shop. Not WalMart.

Go to walmart, get them mounted and then go to a good shop and have them balanced. Walmart cant balance for ****! If you have a sears near you they ususally have an auto center. They do good work.

Go to a reputable tire shop that has mechanics that know what they are doing. So what if it cost $20 per tire. Thats $80 and the comfort of knowing they were mounted and balanced correctly. You said you just bought new rims. Is it worth it to save a few bucks to have them balanced incorrectly and have to go pulling weights off your new clean rims and adding others. Is it worth it to have some kid destroy a rim or tear a tire bead because he really has no clue what he is doing?

Sorry didn't mean to rant. I'm all for saving money but there is a lot to be said for the old saying...you get what you pay for!

Put your jeep on blocks at your place and take them up there, I know Walmart was by far the cheapest around me. They ended up mounting my tires on the rims for free. I told them don't even air them up or balance them though

X2. Don't forget the stripped lug nuts at the "bargain" shops.
