Default Where does it go?

There's a hose that is connected to the front wheel axle and then goes into the engine bay (I assume). Today I noticed that this hose is hanging to the ground. Does this sound familiar to anyone? If so, where does it go?

One end goes to the front axle housing (passenger side) and the other goes to a vacuum switch on the transfercase.

If it is a 3/8" hose on the drivers side then it is the breather hose and it goes from the top of the differential pumpkin to the frame in the vacinity of the upper control arm mount.

My front axle breather is tied up on the firewall and has a white check valve on the top of it.

I think this may be it. Does it connect into anything at the upper control arm mount? I notice the jeep seems to have a slight surge. Not sure if it's related though.

It should run up the firewall near the brake booster. It can be held in place with a plastic zip-tie. The higher up it is the better if you do any wheeling through water or mud.

sorry for bringing up an old thread but the other day i noticed that my breather hose had been torn up by my front drve shaft (i think thats what did it anyway) and now today i noticed it lying under my car, i was wondering how urgent it is to fix it and if i should avoid driving in 4wd until i can fix it

You only need it if you submerge the axle under water.
