1996 Cherokee SE 4.0 5 speed. Even when the needle goes to the red line the gas light doesn't come. Do I even has the low gas light in my model? Also, the 4x4 light doesn't come on when it's in 4x4, any ideas? Also, I have the dummy gauge cluster with no tach.

Being a SE, i doubt it even has one. My 95 SE doesn't have one, or it doesn't work. I just had my dash apart and checked all the bulbs.. Cant remember if there was a empty slot for one tho. Not even sure they had em in 96.Sorry that wasn't much help.

My 96 has one, but I have a sport. I believe it's at an 1/8 of a tank, or when you stop it hard enough to slosh all the gas down that far.

haha true statement. the gas light in my 90 worked sometimes and sometimes didnt. as far as the 4x4 not lighting up its either the bulb is blown behind the insrument cluster or the vacuum switch on the transfer case went bad.

The light in my girlfriends 96 sport comes on at about 1/4 1/8 tank. Then we go and put gas in it and there was 5 gallons left!

Mine comes on about 15 minutes (at 70mph) before I run out...definitely below 1/8 of a tank.

Haha, well in my 78 F150 i always neglected to look at the gas gauge just because I didn't care...and then I ran out of gas the one time. So I guess they help remind you, but who knows.

x2. My fuel light only comes on after it already ran out of gas. She died on the highway so i pulkled over and stopped than this growling noise happened, same noise happens when i leave my lights on, then the stupid light came on.

Mine makes that noise when I leave the lights on and open the drivers door. I took my buzzer out, but I think theres a secondary buzzer for the headlights... Its TRYING to make the right noise, but just growls for a sec and then gives up...
