I was looking at chopping the back off ur xj. i was wondering when do people decide to chop.do they wait till it gets jacked up or whenever u want to. i love the look. to me its looks like a mini hummer 2 sut.Whats ur input?

you decide to chop when you want to chop. there is no sort of pre-requisite for chopping.

When it comes to chopping it's more about why you want to than when should you. So what are your reasons? Looks? Weight? There is alot to weigh in this topic.

yea i was wondering cuz i like the look a saw most people who chop the very top off do it cuz there jeep rolled.

i love the look of it thats the main reason and also it will not b a crap job this is my heep.also we might ask so of my dads buddy's friends that have xjs if they want to try chopping mine and then do thiers.They make racing go kart frams and have made thier own stingers.

I would say find the tail gate and back of the cab from a MJ it will make it all easier to put together..

That or you could use one of those "airgate" or whatever they are called, you know the kind they have for pickups. I don't think I wanna do this just yet, but my dream was always to use one of those airgates, and leave the back of the XJ open and maybe try to retrofit a YJ roll bar or something, then maybe a YJ windjammer for wetter or colder weather? I dunno, just daydreaming though...

i am chopping when the body gets bashed beyond recognition! i will cut the whole body off and make it into a full tubular buggy using the xj drive-train!---BRIAN
