Default Wheel / tire advice.... Please, so I don't go out of my mind!!

Hello all. I'm a noob here, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed.

I'm wanting to put a Rubicon super-flex 3.5 inch lift on my '01 XJ.
They state that you can put the standard 31-10.50/15 tire on this truck once it's lifted. I however like the look of the aluminum jeep wheels that are on the truck and figure that I should be able to put a 245-75/16 goodyear MT/R on this with no problems.

My questions are: should I change the wheels to 15's?
Is there a problem with the stock wheels being left on a lifted jeep?
And, is the 245-75/16 the largest tire I could go with this lift, if I keep the stock wheels?
This jeep is mostly going to be a daily street driver, but I want the lift just to have ground clearence if some trail riding is to be done.

Thanks for any and all help on this matter.

Well, I have a Rough Country 3" lift on my 95 XJ and I have the stock 15" Country rims with 235/75R 15's. I think you have some issues that only you can answer. If you like the look of the stock rims than keep them. As far as the biggest size tire you can fit with your stock rims, if you got the lift kit with full leaf packs VS add A leafs then I would say your could probably do some 265's which should be the equivilant of 32" tires I believe although you probaly will need some fender trimming to avoid rubbing. If all you are trying to accomplish a better look and mabey some mild trail riding than I would stick with the 254's. We would need some pics to go any further.
