Default Wheel Studs

Ok so I today I was on a partially plowed road and teh snow started to get a lil deep so i stopped put my jeep in FT4HI and then when I tried to roll forward my drivers side tire fell off. I broke 2 wheel studs and my alluminum lug nuts on the other 3 went flying. So i jacked my jeep up off my tire put it back on with 3 steel lugnuts and drove it 5 minutes to my friends garage. So now im basicly wondering how hard it is to change the wheel studs and if possible a how-to. Also what other parts should I be inspecting for damage. The weight of the jeep was right on the rotor/axel. Thanks guys.

You need to inspect the brake rotor and brake backing shield for damage. That should be about it so long as you were still or moving very slow when the lug studs broke.

Swapping out lug studs is easy. Pull your wheel off. Take off the brake caliper and wire it up out of the way. Your brake rotor should slide right off, now. You should now be left with just the center hub. Give each of your lug studs a couple of good wacks with a hammer and they will pop right out through the back. You really need an air impact gun to get your new lug studs through and in tight. You will need a nut bigger around than your lug stud. put the large nut over your lug stud where it is started through, then start one of your new STEEL lug nuts onto your new stud. Use the impact gun on the lug nut to tighten it and pull the lug stid through and seat it. Do that 4 more times and then put your rotor, caliper and wheel back on and you're ready to roll.

Go to Napa and the studs come in a box of 5 for $12-$15.

Go to your parts store and tell em to ignore the computer and give you
1/2 x 20 sae wheel studs.

To get em on, put em through the backside. Take a bunch of washers or huge nuts and stack em about 1/2 way up the stud. Put the lug nut on and turn it with your tire wrench till it pulls the stud through and it becomes seated.

You mean on the edge near the head, the part that gets pressed in? When i got some for my tj's front dana 30, i just asked for that size and compared it with my old one and they were identical, just too shiny. They popped right in.
