I had a set of those honeycomb rims that were corroded just like that
I chose the eff it route and picked up a different set of 5 rims and tires off CL for $150
then painted those ones.

Thank you. They are rustoleum satin. It's held up great for over a year now
I'd sell them to you if shipping wasn't more than the asking price. Lol

the new lugs came in today from ebay. 20 chrome acorn lugnutz, $14.50 including shipping. they should make a nice contrast for the gloss black paint. Looks like that was the most popular, so I am going to try it.
Not sure if i should try cleaning up the hole indentations and leave them silver, or just paint everything black (cept lugs ofc). What do you guys think?

Finally I had a free weekend
Thanks for everyones votes and responses.
I have "prepped" and painted my rims, 3 coats krylon fusion black gloss, 3 coats rustoleum crystal clear gloss clearcoat.

I think it looks AMAZING
and im super manic excited about how it turned out and can't wait to take pics tomorrow to show everyone.
I also took time to do 4 coats on the bumper to paint it black from stock blue, I painted my rocker panels gloss black to help tie in the gloss black rims. (i think the window rain/wind guards help tie in the black too.)
I also used a chrome trim kit to do the top edge of the jeep above the windows, (i got the idea from the junkyard visit when I had saw a lot of early age cherokees (87ish) with chrome trim along that edge. I liked it a lot. Now I wish I had chrome handles.
Are handles hard to come off? I found a lot of nice chromne handles on the 87range cherokees at the local JY, but i wasnt sure how hard they would be to remove and if they even will be bolt on.
So what did I do this weekend?
painted rims
painted rocker panel
painted rear bumper
added chrome trim to top edge of jeep AND to rear hatch area (will show pics, didn't over-do it)
chrome license plate
All in all I think my jeep is slowly but surely coming together, with the help of these forums.
I appreciate all the help and advice I have gotten from here.
Look forward to learning about more mods and sharing my DIY work with everyone in the future.
Please keep in mind, anyone can do at least what I do if not better, so don't be afraid to try it, I am so not mechanically inclined and I do not have access to any nice tools or power equipment, just a passion for my jeep and an eye for detail.
FWIW - ALL of the paint on this jeep is spray can.
Pics coming tomorrow for sure! (need some sunlight!) Here is a pic though of the drying phase. Stay tuned for the finished product pictures soon!

Those look nice. I read somewhere on here where this guy used propeller epoxy paint for motor boats but it looked like a flat black though.
My rims need painted too. I've got the black five spoke ones they really set my XJ off. I'm going to ditch my chrome centers though and swap in black ones. Going for a black out theme with mine. But she's staying blue though.

Your XJ sounds as if she looks good too. I'm even going to go with black lug nuts and such.
Nothing flashy.....plus blacks always cheaper than chrome lol. Getting the cash is quite another thing. Hopefully Monday I can get the ball rolling on my tranny.

Had I not had a little chrome already on the jeep I would have been more inclined to go all black too and not worried about my lugs at all.
