You need to open up the rear cover, remove the c-clips, slide the axle out and then pull the bearing and seal off the end of the axle tube. That can be done with a rentable bearing puller and slide hammer. The bearings are not pressed on the axles but into the housing tube. I will be doing this soon to my 8.25 rear in my xj.
