Finally got around to getting new pics tonight.

Here is my '84 XJ 2.5l that I got for free about 2 years ago. Bottom end of the engine was fairly new with about 10K miles on it, but the head was original. Needed valve guides and seals BADLY. A nice head refreshening and it's been a hoot ever since.

This is my $30 Rustoleum paint job that I rolled on. It's one quart Dark Hunter Green Gloss and 1 quart Stops Rust Red Primer. Thinned to milk consistancy and rolled on in about 12+ coats with a dense 4 inch roller and foam brushes on a windy weekend in my driveway.

The before..

During... After removing Herculiner from rockers and hood. Grinding all rust and minor body work.

The tools...

Done with the doors on...

Todays pics with my removable doors off...

That is a nice looking XJ!
Bravo Zulu on a job well done...
(but I'm guessing it's not really "done" yet, right?)

It's never done. But, I am limited as it's only the weak 2.5L 4 banger so I don't want to go too overboard. Maybe some better tires for the snow.

I have a lot of admiration for creativity on a budget.
Keep up the good work!

Very nice. I never thought of using a roller. It seems to be a better way to apply it, cheaply. Thanks for the idea for whenever i scratch mine up enough

Very nice! Did you use a stencil for the lettering?
