Are you talking about a thud crack kinda sound coming from the dash. My xj does that and it's the dash moving since parts of if are not bolted down...they use clips.

Check your motor mounts and the tranny mount.

it happens only when you hit a bump driving? does it happen any other times, like posibly when accelarating from a dead stop?

drivers side motor mount is really close to exhaust manifold and rubber insulator inside wears out after time.

Not to hijack the thread... my dash makes those noises, sounds like it's gonna snap in half.

Or maybe my o2 sensor clip broke and the o2 sensor wrapped around drive shaft and was smacking the floor pan......

i don't think anyone has any idea what to do in this situation. its the point where you add fire and theft to your insurance, drive to a remote location, pull the plates and scratch off the vins. fill it with gas and light a match. just dont forget to pay off a buddy for a ride home....
