YOu must really limit uptravel then. I am running 33's and had to cut my fenders way back to prevent rubbing whel flexxing up front.

it hasnt been wheeled like that

i was offered the 33's mounted on black steelies in trade for some stock tires and crap wheels. so out came the angle grinder.

stock bumpstops in front and no bumpstops in back on negative lift leaf springs. doesn't rub in front, does rub in back.

she's gettin a 3" lift right now. about halfway done

One of my Cherokees came with a stock height and 30x9.5s.
I liked the tires, but they rubbed constantly.

I put in the 1-1/4 poly pucks from eBay in the front and the Dorman springs in the rear.
Now, everything looks like it should and it really wasn't that much money.

I am seeing a ton of stock tires being sold from new Jeeps. Will they fit my 1990 XJ with 3" lift?

lasvegas.craigslist.org/d/for-sale/search/sss?query=jeep%20rims&sort=rel

Looking at the 2020 17" wrangler take offs..

I've always kinda wondered about doing 31s on my 99 that has a mild 2" lift. I do mild trails every so often... but she doesn't get what most would call "wheeled" on major trails...Would I need to do any trimming? And would I have to be concerned with any rubbing at anything short of full lock on the LCA's? I'm currently running 235s which we all know is only a 29" tire...and with even a mild lift of 2" front and maybe a little more in the rear as I redid the sorry sad almost reverse arching rear springs with heavy duty new ones. I'd say they settled with about 2 1/2"s taller than stock.. Then did 2" pucks in the front, still stock springs in front, but all around new slightly longer/taller and better grade shocks. For my tastes I'd say it settled overall pretty even front and rear. I would like it a little taller....but my wife is only 5 feet tall and have to help her up into the jeep as it is now. lol.
The 29's IMHO just seem a little on the small size now with the mild lift....and thinking 31's would look nice without compromising overall flex too much. And also I arrived at 31s because that is a very popular size for light/medium truck tires. So good price competition, availability, etc. along with the fact that I don't want to come anywhere near stressing the diffs to needing to be re-geared. (D30 upfront w/ D35 w/factory LSD in the rear)

you will rub full lock on stock wheels and stock control arms. you could slightly adjust the steering stops. I put in WJ control arms and fixed it. they have a little kink in the middle. I rubbed with 31's and a 3" when I was flexed at strong angles. just get 31's mate they rock.

Mine's a '99 with stock steelies with the center caps.
On 235s and no rubbing... but we're talking 31s are nearly 2 inches wider in overall diameter. I rarely need to go full lock, close yes...full...not so much. at least where I live and the mild trails she sees with me at the wheel.
