Default What years have knock sensor?

My 1994 4.0 has a knock sensor in the engine block right behind the engine mount on the drivers side. Weird thing is there is are no wires going to it. there are not even any extra wiring harnesses hanging around in that area. Is that normal? Could the the block a leftover chrysler wanted to use up? It could not be the orginal engine for i know but i've done alot to it and every part on it from what I know fits 1994s description.

Update!!! I just checked casting numbers I have a renix head and block. here i am doing 0-60 in 6 seconds with a renix head??!! I never thought to look because it had the 1994 intake and exhaust manifolds. Im glad though that renix block is a stroker gem which is what im doing soon.

That's the Renix CTS that should have a 2 wire pigtail on it.

The Knock sensor is located below the engine mount above the oil pan flange.

Of course you don't either of those sensors.

But your Renix block has the potential of going 400,000mi., as I have just turned 444,444mi. on my original motor and transmission.

Sounds like someone swapped the engine on you. Only Renix had knock sensors. In later years the boss was present but not tapped.

Renix block ain't that special. Strength was added in '95 anyway. I think the head's a bit nicer at lower RPM but... not really much of a difference. Renix electronics are what make for a nice stroker IIRC

Haven't yet seen an HO block up to 95 that isn't tapped FWIW.

Supposedly Renix blocks had higher nickel content.

Nothing wrong with a Renix head either. It breathes just fine in the ranges you run a 4.0 in anyway.

I wish I knew the real milage but oh well. Body has 165000 anyway. It still has the 94 OBD1 system and uses all 1994 sensors. whoever put the engine in knew what they were doing.

my coolant sensor does have 2 wires coming out. it works great. I wonder how that is working with OBD1?
