I have a 90xj and yesterday i swapped my rear dana 35 for a 97 8.25 and my driveshaft is too long and i was wondering what year driveshafts would work I know the ones that came with a 8.25 are shorter i just wasnt sure if the year would matter??
well on all pre-1996 XJs, there was an extension housing on the end of the driveshaft, and all of them 1996 and newer lacked that extension, so since yours has the extension housing i would look for a driveshaft off a pre-96 cherokee that had the 8.25 rear.

Be aware though that the older 8.25s before 97 (someone correct me if im wrong here) had the 27 spline count, and 97+ had the 29 spline count
Make sure you get the correct spline count ds or youll be stuck looking for another one.
