Weird I thought it had the new interior. Either way I edited my original post. Thanks for the heads up.

Well to add & fix a few things. Sam you did great btw!
Renixs can take any mod that the new High outputs can. Only difference is Renix can't get the PMC modules..those Jet performance chips that aren't worth anything, and we can use a HO header, but we have to deal with EGR.
My vote goes for the Renix, its simple to work on, and upgraded very easily because they made things better as they went on, but they got hard mechaniclly to work on.
My buddies got a 96, older body but new interior, whole interior is the new style, so some 96s did get the better interior. But he has stricter emmision standars and everytime its smogged he has something wrong. Mine is a 88 and passes fine. Renixs have less to go wrong mechanically and are easy to fix & figure out when something does go wrong which is why they get my vote.

Get a 89-90 though so you have th echance of a ax-15 and c101 connector

96! I got two of 'em. I like the old-style box look and OBDII. One thing I wish I had that the newer ones have are the steel rear hatch.

The fiberglass ones are weaker and can crack. I had that happen on my 93 when I rolled it. It would mainly come down to what type of terrain you wheel in though. I only see it being a problem in rocks but that's just my opinion lol

My 87 is the best I've had. I love it. I had a 93 that had a bunch of electrical issues and a 96 that I had to replace too many things. My 87 hasn't failed me yet.

97, 98, or 99. HO 4.0, doesent have the 0331head that is prone to cracking, if it has a c8.25 rear axle it will be 29 splne, not 26, has airbags, high pinion d30. Theres more but i cant think of it right now

Exactly the reason! I've seen stress cracks develop on other vehicles from being slammed shut over the years. Mind you, never on a Jeep, but there's a chance, I guess. I guess that's another reason why it'd be best to stiffen up the uniframe for our model years, too...
