I picked up a headliner from the junkyard, but I don't know what originally went here to try and find a replacement?

while you have that off you should hook up an overhead console from another jeep. there nice to have and easier when everything apart

I saw that on a jeep at the junkyard, but it was in tan. Really no use for that I'm guessing. As for the overhead what models would I look for? Thanks

It may have ben nothing at all on your XJ. Chrysler use one wiring harness for all the vehicles built each year. It eliminated the need to stock dozens of different wiring configurations at the plant, one was so much simpler. It also makes it easy to add optional equipment to your Jeep. There were 2 devices that were installed in that spot, the keyless remote entry sensor, and the information display center (compass, outside temp, etc etc). So a base model XJ could have had nothing at all but the wiring was still there.
So it sounds like it's not worth the trouble!! I think I'll just hide it, at least I know its there if I ever get an itch to add something.

the problem with hiding it is that A LOT of xj's have this opening devise so you just gonna have an empty spot with a hole in your head liner.
as for the overhead console i have been told its easier to use the same year jeep just a different sub model, like sport-limited, if you know what i mean.

I know what you mean it's just my pickings are kind of slim around here! As for the headliner it only had an opening for the center light. I have to cut one for the rear light and the front is solid so it works alright for now.Originally Posted by HeepJeeper
