What transmission?
I am completely new to the Jeep world, I just bought a 1994 cherokee with a 4.0 and a 5 speed manual transmission. The transmission needs replaced and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what transmission is in it so I can start shopping for a replacement. Also, do jeep wranglers use the same transmission? Anyone around Pennsylvania have an extra transmission? Thanks!

The AX-15 was used in many different Jeep and Dodge model cars and trucks. Attached at the bottom of my post here is a link to Novak's web site, who I think does a good job of giving a general desciption of the AX-15 and what it was used for. The transmission did come in many different vehicles but you have to be careful because there could be differnet versions of AX-15's that changed between the different vehicles they were used in, I don't know for sure though. If I were you, I would call one of the large transmission and engine builders like Jasper or ATK and ask if they could cross reference the AX-15 in your year Cherokee to any other Jeep vehicles to see what the compatability of your car to other Jeep models might be. Then if you get a match on another Jeep then you have opened up your options. I looked on Ebay really quick and I found some remaned AX-15's going for between about $750 to about $1000 dollars.
