my buddy has a 2 inch lift with 31's. had to cut fenders and still rubs every once and a while but with a 3.5 your good. id imagine another inch of tire on a 4 inch would be straight

Lift/tire combos (this is with out trimming)

2" = 30x9.5

3" = 31x10.5

4" = 32x11.5

5" = 33x10.5

6" = 33x12.5

7" = 34x12.5

8" = 35x12.5

Depends on how much flex you get, sway bars disconnected, offset/backspacing of the wheel, bump-stops and trimmed fenders. All those factors have be accounted for.
I fit 31 X 10.50's on 2 inches of lift, I didn't need to trim the fenders because I used a bump stop drop kit. The rubbed on the LCA's at full lock because I didn't have enough backspacing.
Other than fit, is stress on your drive train components and steering. If you're under 33" you should be ok with stock parts.
