Default what thread/size is the trackbar bolt please?

My trackbar bolt (and the special tag nut) has stripped thread

I will be off to the fastener shop, and they should be able to gauge it, but the thread is very flat

so many Imperial fasteners? (1/2") on the front end, I dont even know for sure, presumably its metric ?

While I am at it, the little clamp that locks the front spring down threads into the spring pan directly...the female thread is stipped

the bolt head is 1/2"...I am thinking to try and thread the next size up metric in there, failing that tap the spring pan..its a kind of blind hole, so you cant get a nut under there

after I got a bolt from the fastener shop, my flag nut was ok, job done

I found this thread randomly, after a "search" was fruitless

to help disseminate info for the future

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/th...-sizes-209319/

forum member peligro113 contributed the following;

4- Upper control arms- M10x1.5x80mm (4 nuts required)
4- Lower Control arms- M14x2.0x120mm (4 nuts required)
6- Leaf springs/ shackles- M14x2.0x110mm (2 nuts required at shackle, frame side eye is welded nut)
4- Front sway bar at frame- M10x1.5x30mm
8- Shocks at bar pins- M8x1.25x35mm (with nuts, 4x lock washers if your rear bolts break and you have to go fishing)

1- Track bar bolt- M10x1.5x70mm (try to reuse factory nut)

2- Front sway bar end link stud at axle- M12x1.75 nuts
2- lower shock stud at rear axle- M12x1.75 nuts
2- front spring retainer- M8x1.25x25mm

on the 2nd issue, stripped spring hold down thread in spring pan. I will need to drill & tap hole for M10

the track bars not an m10. Theres like a solid 1/8” of play here. And no my bolt hole isnt wallowed out it doesnt fit the bushing sleeve either. Thanks for the 2nd trip to the hardware store dude.

Welcome to the forum

It is on my 96s

(This is the dude you need to rage out at .....forum member peligro113 contributed the following;.......)

You can use the forum software to see if he is still active, and if so, perhaps give him a jolt via PM ?

Its good you made this correction though, (if in fact you are correct), and I advise use blue Loctite

The reason I ask, is I know FOR SURE the HOLE in the trackbar mountis nominally 10mm.

If it gets wallowed out, the correct fix is to either weld on 10mm washers, OR, drill out to 11mm, weld washers, fit an 11mm OD bolt and correctly threaded nut, either a nyloc, or weld the flag on

Guess how I KNOW this! (took a while to come back to me)

So what size did you get?

May I inquire if you own a vernier caliper?..let u off not owning a thread gauge

Threads and bolts on an XJ are infuriating, I will give u that

free download the relevant Spare Parts Manual, and if you are able to read an Index, that will be quicker than going to the nut & bolt shop twice, or relying upon some internet ******** wont it ?
