Hey guys, I just bought a 1998 White, 2 door Cherokee with about 155,000k.
What are some checks/ things I should do to it to keep it strong?
Thanks

Change all the fluids (oil, tranny, diffs)t, tuneup, change the fuel filter new air filter and check all the vacuum lines. Also make sure and lube all the joints that have grease certs..

Crawl under it and do a thorough inspection. Check u-joints look for leaks check that nothing is rubbing. Look over the exhaust.
Then jack up the front end and look for loose components there.
In addition to fresh fluids you might consider new belt and hoses.

fluid change
At 155,000 I dont know if I would be changing the automatic transmission fluid. The new fluid with all the additives will break all the crap loose and you will be getting towed to the transmissio shop. Ask me how I found out!!!!

I dunno I drained my trany fluid at 146K on a jeep that sat for about 2 yrs without being started..the fluid was brownish from just sitting..I pulled the drain plug drained refilled and did this a few times to get it to a nice red color and have yet to have an issue..Now I would never flush a high mileage trany but just simply draining and putting some fresh in should not ruin a trany unless it's already bad..Now that's just my opinion..

He never says it is an automatic so I assumed as I am sure that others did that it was a stick. Some would do the poor mans flkuid change anyway. I did on mine at 151,000 and never have had an issue and now approachinf 260,000 miles.
